L'hotel élan in Hong Kong has selected IBM to build an interactive guest service system using the Apple iPad, said Big Blue Monday.

According to the vendor, the hotel's eGuest system will be built on IBM partner MVI's in-room entertainment system and secured with MVI's mobile device management (MDM) system. IBM added that the MDM system will also be integrated with L'hotel élan's property management and point-of-sale systems.

The iPad tablets in all of the 254 rooms and suites of the hotel will be preloaded with live international TV channels and hotel selected applications such as the latest games and news, guest messages, bill review, in-room dining order features, the hotel said.

"Innovation's important in making a real difference in customer experience, customer loyalty, and attracting new customers in today's hospitality market where competition is intense," said Sylvia Chung, General Manager, L'hotel élan.

The iPad tablets will also be centrally managed, secured, tracked, configured and supported, said IBM, adding that device provisioning and support require minimal training and won't strain the hotel's IT resources.
