Halo 3: Recon renamed to Halo 3: ODST

Bungie on Tuesday renamed the upcoming Halo 3 expansion to better reflect "the experience that awaits and the role you will assume."

"As of today, the game formerly known as Halo 3 : Recon will henceforth be known as Halo 3: ODST," Bungie announced on its website Tuesday.

According to the developer, the name change is "a more straightforward account of the experience that awaits and the role you will assume as you explore the streets of New Mombasa." Recon armor (shown) will still be wearable, however, and everything else remains the same, including the single-player campaign and online multiplayer when the game arrives on Xbox 360 next fall.

For the uninitiated, ODST stands for "Orbital Drop Shock Trooper," the special force unit that you'll be playing as in the upcoming expansion.
