EDS opens center of excellence in Malaysia

31.10.2008
Technology services company EDS, an HP company, has launched a center of excellence at the Shell Information Technology International (SITI) office in Malaysia's Cyberjaya.

The Shell End User Computer Centre of Excellence (CoE) will meet Shell's growing IT demands, according to SITI country manager, Doug Webster, and EDS global account executive, Doug Hoover.

Webster said the CoE will provide a physical environment where EDS, its Agility Alliance partners and Shell, the global group of energy and petrochemical companies, will develop pilot technology and new service offerings prior to the commencement of a project or its deployment to the Shell user community.

EDS, an HP company, founded more than 46 years ago, is a global technology services provider, delivering business solutions. Technology services giant HP acquired EDS in August 2008.

Cyberjaya allows global reach

In addition, Webster said that under the terms of a five-year IT master services agreement signed in March 2008, EDS manages Shell's end-user computing services. This includes desktop, service desk, on-site services, back-up and disaster recovery, mobile information protection and managed messaging services, for 150,000 users in more than 100 countries. EDS also acts as operational integrator, collaborating closely with Shell's other key IT suppliers.
