Deus Ex Only Needed 5 Days to Top the August NPD Charts

09.09.2011
Sure, video games sales might be in the toilet compared to last year, but how that Deus Ex: Human Revolution, right?

While and paint a pretty grim picture for the gaming industry -- video game sales compared to August last year dropped a whopping 23 percent -- one bright story in the August NPD results can be found from Square Enix and Eidos Montreal.

Deus Ex didn't just top the list of 10 best-selling games last month, it did it in record time. Despite only releasing on August 23rd, the game managed to leapfrog NCAA Football 12, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D to hit the top spot. Sure, other games like Cars 2 and "Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd" were also hot sellers, but -- well, kids have a lot of money these days, right?
