Dell launches social networks for its users

Dell Inc. last Friday launched a social network that allows customers to vote for the best ideas for new Dell products and services -- as submitted by fellow users.

At DellIdeaStorm, users can share ideas and experiences directly with their peers and with company developers and executives.

"We are at our best when we are hearing directly from our customers," said Dell Chairman and CEO Michael Dell in a statement. "We listen, learn and then improve and innovate based on what our customers want."

The company also unveiled a second site, StudioDell, where customers can submit videos showing how they are using Dell technology. The site has channels for consumers, small businesses and IT professionals.

Early blog posts on DellIdeaStorm included suggestions for new features on Dell notebooks, requests to review additional Dell products on the site and encouragement for Dell to sponsor the Olympic Games.
