Dead Rising 2 executive producer criticizes Capcom's gunplay

30.04.2009
Tuesday, during a presentation of 's , the sequel to the popular Xbox 360 title , CEO and General Manager of Blue Castle Games Dan Brady stated:

"One of the things that really sucked in Dead Rising 1 was actually the gun. I would argue it actually hasn't been implemented all that well in very many of the Capcom products at all."

A bold claim, considering how big a role guns have played in previous Capcom games such as the , and franchises, all known for their run-and-gun gameplay.

"I know a lot of people that played Dead Rising 1 and they enjoyed the Katana, they enjoyed those things. But what they really wanted is they wanted a gun that wasn't going to be annoying, something they didn't want to huck at the monitor. These are the kind of changes we're actually doing this year."

Regardless of whether or not Capcom holds a reputation of excellence in gunplay, what is certain is that they hold a reputation of excellence in crazy fun bloodshed and Dead Rising 2 looks to be no exception in that category.

"We're not trying to reinvent the game, but it's something that we're doing to make it an even more fun sandbox to play in for the user."
