Case West takes place after the events of Dead Rising 2, with Frank West trying to help Chuck Greene clear his name (the authorities blame Greene for the zombie outbreak in Fortune City). sees Frank team up with Chuck Greene for some co-op action as the duo tackles a new case set in the Phenotrans Facility on the outskirts of Fortune City.

Capcom promises new challenges and new enemies in Case West, along with new weapons, items, cooperative play, and the ability to create a number of new combo weapons (weapons created by combining multiple items. Players will also rescue human survivors that managed to stay alive inside the facility. When playing in single-player, the game's AI controls Frank, but he cannot die. Finally, the photo gameplay element popularized in Dead Rising makes a return in this stand-alone game.
