CSC in A$190 million services deal with water provider

21.02.2007
The Water Corporation in Western Australia Thursday announced an IT services contract with Computer Sciences Corp. to the tune of A$190 million (US$149 million).

One of Australia's largest water service providers, the Corporation has more than $10 billion invested in water services infrastructure.

The contract, which includes a six-year base period, and four one-year options, has a potential value of up to $190 million if all options are exercised. CSC has been working with Water Corporation since 1999.

Under the new agreement, CSC will be responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of Water Corporation's diverse range of existing applications, as well as the development and implementation of new systems.

CSC will also provide the company with improved project, program and demand management capabilities, which will result in faster and lower cost delivery of systems. A key aspect of CSC's delivery model will be to work closely with select third-party providers, including CA, NGIS, SKM and Systemic.

Water Corporation, information services manager, Dave Currell, said CSC was a low risk option because the provider understands its operations and can deliver on all services.
