Compuware on Monday is announcing Changepoint 10, an upgrade to the company"s IT governance and management product that is intended to provide visibility across applications, infrastructure, and project portfolios.

The package enables CIOs to more effectively manage IT by aligning resource and investment decisions with business priorities, according to Compuware. Visibility across project and application portfolios is critical in version 10.

"One of the key things in version 10 is actually the visibility across these two portfolios," enabling assessment of how projects will affect applications, said Lori Ellsworth, director of product management Changepoint at Compuware.

Changepoint 10 enhancements include:

- Extended project and portfolio planning for prioritizing investments, including consolidation of project, application and infrastructure portfolios. Insight is provided into the scope of pending development. Project portfolios also can be analyzed across fiscal periods.

- Operational visibility, including improvements to provide executives with better insight into IT demand including change, maintenance, enhancement, and project requests. Business rules associated with various types of demand also can be automated. Capabilities for managing large projects have been extended with capabilities such as task contouring, task dependencies, and project-level staffing.

- Configurable workflow to support automation of IT business processes and methodologies, via a Web-based graphical design environment.

Available now, Changepoint 10 pricing ranges from US$400 per seat to $2,000 per seat.

Telelogic on Monday is upgrading its application lifecycle management offerings. Products being released include: Doors 8.0, for requirements management; Tau G2 2.5, for change and configuration management; Synergy/CM 6.4 software build management; Synergy/Change 4.4 for change management and DocExpress 4.4, for publishing information generated in other Telelogic products. Featured in the synchronized release is role-based integration.

"It means that users can access various functions from other products from within one product that they"re using. They don"t have to switch back and forth between different GUIs," said Matt Graney, vice president of product management for modeling and testing products at Telelogic.

Additionally, the products all utilize the same licensing mechanism, for easier administration. Token-based licensing means a user can switch from one product to another depending on the stage of a product.  A master installer also is included.

LogicLibrary is releasing Logidex 3.6, a version of the company"s software development asset management tool featuring "Smart Controls," which allow a user to define governance processes over software asset production. For example, a company building Web services as part of its SOA can automate review processes for that Web service, to make sure it conforms to schema and policy rules, said Brent Carlson, vice president of technology at LogicLibrary.

Also featured in version 3.6 are federated repository capabilities for setting up Logidex libraries on multiple servers and interconnecting them. Selective filtering funnels assets to specific locations.

Shipping in June, Logidex 3.6 has a list price of $25,000 per server.

CodeFast, meanwhile, has announced PerfectBuild, a build automation system that simplifies administration of build processes to eliminate build failures and maximize execution speed.

PerfectBuild"s approach to build administration combines an object-based administration system with automatic generation of error-free build scripts in make, Ant or Perl, to reduce the time needed to set up builds, according to CodeFast.

The product also handles execution of software builds for optimal parallel execution of build tasks by automatic determinations of correct build order.

The product also addresses unrecognized dependencies and bad file input at check-in.
