In a study by Gartner, results show that cloud is becoming a priority by organizations; with 77% of companies starting to use public cloud in 2011, and 78% confirming implementation of private cloud strategies by 2014.

On a local perspective, EMC Philippines Country Manager, Ronnie Latinazo, shares that various organizations are increasingly adapting to this enabling technology. There is "an improvement with the way things are being done in the Philippines," he says.

Latinazo notes that local firms from the banking, utilities and real estate, among others, are stepping up efforts to move into the cloud.

EMC further cites a survey by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines where the IT-BPO and shared services companies, and the government agencies, are investing in cloud technologies to improve global competitiveness and decrease costs.
