BBEdit 9.1 improves FTP performance

Bare Bones Software released an update for its HTML and text editor, , on Monday, adding a new font and improving the performance of FTP.

According to Bare Bones, the FTP implementation in BBEdit has been rewritten to improve performance and reliability. The Passive setting is no longer being used in the application. Instead, BBedit will first attempt a passive connection and if that doesn't work, it will move to a non-passive connection.

The company also licensed a new font from Ascender Corporation, specifically for use with BBEdit. Consolas Regular is an antialiased font optimized for editing text and code, including markup.

There were with BBEdit 9.1 including improved the printing/pagination behavior when printing web preview windows; a fix that allows the Search and Replace fields to scale when the text factory configuration sheet is resized; and a bug has been fixed that caused missing context menu in the clippings floater.

The BBEdit 9.1 is available free of charge to all registered BBEdit 9.0 customers. For new users BBEdit costs $125.
