Atari to publish Chronicles of Riddick sequel

31.10.2008
Previously announced as a remake of the original game, Atari Thursday announced that it had picked up the publishing rights to Assault on Dark Athena, and that developer Starbreeze Studios would be making a proper "full-length" single-player campaign.

Starbreeze developed the first game, in addition to The Darkness released for PS3 and Xbox 360 last year.

"This exciting announcement promises a title which will include the original game re-imagined for a whole new audience, an entirely new chapter in the Riddick saga and, for the first time, intense online multiplayer combat, making The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena a must-have experience for any fan of intense action gaming," Atari said in a statement today.

The first Chronicles of Riddick game, Escape from Butcher Bay, released for Xbox and PC in 2004. It is often considered to be the best video game based on a movie, winning a GamePro "Editor's Choice" award that same year.
