Leading the Remote 2.1 update is support for AirPlay. You can complete the gadget trifecta by using your iPhone or iPad to control iTunes on a Mac and direct it to send video to an Apple TV. You can also now use an iOS device to start playing rented iTunes Store content in iTunes.
Other perks include playing Internet radio stations in iTunes, fixes for connecting to iTunes libraries and Apple TV, and the typical round of ambiguous but ever-present stability and performance improvements.
Remote 2.1 is available now in the App Store for free. It’s a universal app for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad that requires iOS 3.1.2 or later. Here’s a list of Apple’s complete release notes:
