ANA takes flight with Unisys

01.06.2006
The Japanese arm of Unisys Corp., Nihon Unisys, has won a 10-year global outsourcing deal with All-Nippon Airlines (ANA).

The contract, the value of which has not been disclosed, involves managed hosting, application development and developing a solution for inventory, reservation and departure control systems and support on 100 percent of the "core business applications."

ANA currently moves more than 50 million people internationally and domestically every year.

Unisys global transportation president Olivier Houri expects the initial deal to be extended, possibly for a total lifecycle of 20 to 25 years with ANA signing "an entire delivery systems restructure."

"The deal is also to replace the existing legacy solution of mainframes as it is becoming a market necessity to respond to a more flexible business environment," Houri said.

All ANA IT systems will be run out of the Nihon Unisys data center in Japan.
