ZTE rules the global high-end telecom market

ZTE won the most new wireless contracts in the fourth quarter of 2010, according to a report by EJL Wireless Research.

ZTE, a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, achieved a number one ranking in the market in "Global Base Station Contract Analysis, Fourth Quarter 2010" report.

This industry report indicates that ZTE secured 48 per cent of the total contracts awarded in the last quarter of 2010.

The telecommunications company reached this milestone despite a reduction in the number of total contracts awarded within the wireless industry worldwide.

ZTE emphasises that its ranking confirms the speedy growth of SDR (software definition radio) base station shipment.

In 2010, the total shipment of ZTE's SDR base stations exceeded 700,000 units, which is three times higher than 2009.

The company secured a total of 60 new wireless SDR contracts for all of 2010 and achieved large-scale breakthroughs in the global high-end telecom market with the SDR base-station platform.

Several companies in Europe such as KPN, Telenor, Telefonica, Optimus and H3G are using SDR base stations deployed by ZTE. The company is ranked number one in China in terms of the market share gained in the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) equipment market and holds the second position in terms of the overall market share.
