Based on reader feedback and number of headlines in the news today, our Top Story for Jan. 24, 2011 is "DC Universe PS3 outsells PC by 4 percent."

comes by way of Sony Online Entertainment President . Smedley began Tweeting DC Universe factoids late yesterday, claiming the game was the fastest-selling SOE title to date:

Working on out-of-stock problems for DCUO. It's out fastest selling game ever. Should have more inventory in Monday.

What makes it news is a combination of faction fighting between PC and PlayStation 3 gamers. Most hardened PC types have a hard time believing anything could be worth $60 plus a subscription fee with competing products like World of Warcraft and City of Heroes at hand (and Champions Online is even free-to-play these days). Some PS3 players also rightly call out the game for some severe glitches -- including a total loss of sound bug that deprives gamers of the flashy voice overs DCUO boasts. But it looks like people want to believe DCUO is fun no matter what the critics say.

As for what the critics say, DCUO's scored reviews are mixed with the lowest () clocking in at 40/100 . Our own here on GamePro seems glowing -- but we're withholding our score until the three-week mark.
