Masterton Homes builds Alcatel-Lucent telephony system

The combined Alcatel-Lucent has announced local building company Masterton Homes as the 10 millionth small to medium business user of its OmniPCX IP telephony platform.

Masterton Homes chalked up the milestone by implementing a managed VOIP network and communications solution across its two main facilities and 12 remote sites with the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office system.

According to Alcatel-Lucent, the managed offering enables Masterton Homes to ease the management of its communication network, allowing the company to focus on new business generation and improving customer service.

Graham Downes from Masterton Homes said the company's aim was to improve customer service to the point where it exceeded customers' expectations.

"We had identified poor call handling and basic lack of inter-office communication capabilities as a significant impediment to this," Downes said. "The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office solution with managed communications services gave us an integrated communications system, which has allowed us to serve our customers in a manner better than in the past."

The OmniPCX Office has also delivered cost savings from inter-office calls and services.

In implementing the solution, Masterton Homes leveraged the existing wiring in its two main offices and deployed Alcatel-Lucent 4029 digital handsets at those sites, and tied in the remote offices with IP phones to centralize applications - like voicemail and greetings.

The network is also equipped with Alcatel-Lucent's PC-based PIMphony Attendant software application and Office Management Console. The PIMPhony Attendant enables call greeting, screening and routing capabilities. The Alcatel-Lucent Office Management Console software application centrally manages multiple sites as a single enterprise-wide solution.

Hubert de Pesquidoux, president of Alcatel-Lucent's enterprise activities, said the company is pleased to see Masterton Homes as its 10 millionth SMB user and is excited to continue to help companies of all sizes transform their networks with either in-house deployments or as part of a managed communications solution through a network operator.
