Describing the company as Australia's largest currency management organization, Chief Information Officer Jeremy Bates, said the server consolidation initiative is part of an expansive business re-engineering project.
Bates is betting the business on Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) Integrity servers. He did not disclose details of which vendors were ditched as part of the move to standardize with HP.
By consolidating IT systems into a central location, he said the company can safely manage infrastructure and meet all its legislative requirements through well-managed growth.
Under the HP-architected model, Linfox Armaguard requires only two HP Integrity rx8620 servers to manage its new mission-critical platform.
"From a strategic perspective, we probably wouldn't have secured the contracts that we have now if we didn't have the capacity and scalability of these Integrity servers," Bates said.
"We are now better prepared to handle the volume nature of our business."
Linfox Armaguard is working with HP to roll out the new application company-wide in coming months. The company is also in the process of creating new business models to facilitate global expansion.
