iPad mini beats Nexus and iPad 3 in drop test

Square Trade, who offer warrentees for equipment like laptops and iPads, has published a video on YouTube in which the new iPad mini, Google Nexus 7 and iPad 3 are drop tested to see which one comes of best.

After the first drop the presenter says: "iPad mini held up well, slight damage on the corner there, that's about it." In contrast, the Nexus 7 "Took a beating on the edge, cracked on the edge," he says. It's not a win all round for Apple, however. "The iPad 3 took a lot of damage where it landed on the corner, there are cracks everywhere," he says, showing the smashed screen.

In a drop test where the tablets are set to land face down, the iPad mini doesn't do so well. "It's completely shattered, glass is coming off," states the presenter.

The Nexus 7 "didn't do to bad." The tablet experienced just a bit of cracking in the middle.

Unfortunately the iPad 3 is "completely destroyed."

In a water test, where the tablets are immersed for 10 seconds Nexus 7 turns itself off and resets itself "so it's not responsive," notes the presenter.

The iPad 3 "seems a little slow, but is still kind of responsive," says the presenter, noting: "The home button isn't functioning."

The iPad mini, on the other hand is "still responding to touch even though its wet."

"In all three tests the iPad mini seemed to come off best," is the conclusion of the video, which you can watch below.
