GlobeQuest has acquired bankrupt firm CNG Global Data Hub's data center facilities in Makati and Laguna and has continued servicing the needs of the firm's 26 remaining clients.

GlobeQuest, a business unit of Innove Communications, brought back to the Ayala Group the CNG data center, which was previously fully owned by the Ayalas and known as the Ayalaport Data Center.

After CNG's closure on July 21 this year, GlobeQuest took over the operations of the data centers, said Jesus Romero, GlobeQuest head.

The acquisition has further expanded GlobeQuest's data center capabilities. The expansion is being driven by the increasing demand for hosting services and high-capacity network access as well as the company's increasing foray into the enterprise market. The data centers are also being aimed at helping local companies who are looking to become more globally competitive.

Data centers, like GlobeQuest's, are secured and controlled environments where enterprises can outsource their IT facilities for their day-to-day operations or use them as a backup facility. It provides a one-stop shop facility to enterprises to support all their ICT needs.

'As of the moment, the data center business in the country is picking up. The industry is expected to grow rapidly since more and more customers are increasingly becoming open and willing to submit their businesses to all forms of outsourcing to keep IT-related costs under control. We want to be ready for them,' said Romero.

Enterprises today also have a greater acceptance of outsourced IT and network solutions than in the past. Outsourcing allows them to focus on their core businesses. In the financial services sector, regulatory requirements are also driving the demand for business continuity services and managed security solutions.

At present, GlobeQuest data centers' suite of managed services is composed of co-location, dedicated server hosting, bandwidth and connectivity, and hosted messaging. The suite also includes business continuity and recovery services, media storage services, and managed security.

'Aside from the existing services being offered, we are moving forward in developing new complementary services to maximize our infrastructure support services businesses and be able to provide end-to-end solutions to our enterprise customers. With this new development, we are more prepared and flexible in addressing customer needs,' Romero said.

The data centers reach the international market through a marketing alliance with SingTel Expan, a network of data centers in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, China, and Thailand.
