Fujitsu expands portfolio with Supply Chain acquisition

19.06.2009
Provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions Fujitsu announced it has recently acquired the Australia and South East Asia operations of Supply Chain Consulting Pty Ltd., expanding the former's SAP and Oracle portfolio.

In a press statement, CEO of Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand Rod Vawdrey noted that "The acquisition of Supply Chain Consulting extends our investments in the SAP and Oracle segment and will allow us to offer our customers unprecedented choice from a single provider of services and capabilities in the mid-tier, as well as the necessary scale to service the larger enterprise."

Supply Chain is considered a market leader in SAP and Oracle enterprise solutions and services.

The move is expected to generate additional SAP income for both companies, with consolidated IT, communications solutions, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) products. Already, Fujitsu amassed US$53 billion in consolidated revenues in 2008.

Fujitsu also added that this acquisition, which was completed late April, centers on the capabilities and reputation of its people. It will bring this high value expertise across various markets in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia -- including the Philippines.

This expanded offering can prove essential with the focus areas Fujitsu is targeting locally. In a recent luncheon with the local media, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand managing director for Asia, Jan Biezepol, pointed at conglomerates and the government as two strong focus areas in the Philippines.

Biezepol explained that Fujitsu sees growth in these areas since the government continues to be a growing market, with agencies that still remain not automated or utilizing legacy systems. Conglomerates, similarly, are growing incessantly as they constantly look for new areas to explore and optimize different kinds of businesses.

Fujitsu has, in fact, revealed plans to transform its Manila site into a center of excellence for the region in the enterprise resource planning space.

Also in a press statement, director of Supply Chain Consulting, Philippines Raymond Lacdao shared his confidence for this acquisition. "Supply Chain Consulting is a leading global provider of enterprise and software solutions and this acquisition will further improve the services we are currently offering to our clients, especially in Manila. The local office holds many opportunities with booming Philippine IT industry and Manila will be the center of excellence for the region with regard to ERP software solutions," he said.

"We are pleased with this development because it does not only tie us up with a global IT giant; we also have more resources dedicated to support our broad range of solutions and services," said Lacdao.
