With an aim to get increased foothold in the Indian SMB market, Dell and Tally has entered into a strategic partnership to provide Dell Vostro range of laptops and desktops with integrated Tally. ERP9 software on a subscription model.

As a result of this partnership, more than 6000 Tally resellers in the country will get the opportunity of registering with Dell and start selling Dell hardware. Similarly, all of Dell's existing and potential partners will have an opportunity to sell Tally's products to their customers. Customers can use and test Tally ERP 9 for a period of 90 days without having paid for it and can then decide whether to continue with it or not. The offer is currently available on Dell's Vostro Classic and A series of laptops and desktops.

Through the new initiative, say the companies, partners will be able to drive more value for customers and thus have a better chance to service their IT needs. Apart from that, this also increases the resources through which the customers can obtain these products.

The companies stated that the new initiative is just the beginning of a long-term and ongoing relationship between the two companies.

"We believe that the partnership comes at the right time. At period when the industry is facing a huge financial crisis, customers actually look for trusted brands and also for value for money. We are going to work together in lot more opportunities not just in India but in other emerging markets as well," says D Kalyanaraman, member of Tally's Central Leadership Team.

Neeraj Gupta, GM, Commercial Channel Business, Dell India said, "Customers do not prefer to deal with multiple numbers of vendors. SMBs generally prefer to buy from one trusted partner and when the same partner can bring more offerings and consolidate the solutions that they are looking for, the partners will be able to increase throughput. And by working with two brands, partners can scale up and improve their business."

The two companies are planning to host channel events in major cities in the country to showcase partner benefits and discuss enrollment process. The companies claim that their partners will be eligible to earn quarter on quarter revenue through customer renewals of the subscription. The two companies are at the commencement of working together to address various pain points of their channel partners and also coming up with easy-to-sell offerings.

With the growing number of mobile users in the SMB space, Tally and Dell expects to see an increasing demand for the new combination across the verticals. The companies are in discussion about extending this offering to Dell's selected servers as well.
