Computerworld's new comment platform

24.06.2011
We are pleased to announce a new reader comment system. Starting this morning, all articles are using the as part of the . Computerworld blogs will follow shortly.

The new platform provides readers with many advantages.

First, readers will be able to log in using either (for example, Twitter or Facebook). No need to sign up for a Computerworld-specific account; you can bring your own identity to our site and others. This means no more anonymous comments. We hope this change will increase the sense of community and enhance the quality of discussions.

Next, commenters' profile pages will list their comments and the comments or articles they have " ." With this handy list, you can easily return to whatever you find the most interesting.

Further, commenters will be able to subscribe to comment threads via email or RSS. No more checking back to see if someone's replied to your comment -- now you can be notified instantly of updates to the discussion.

And, finally, commenters will be able to "follow" one another. That means you'll be able to find stories that your peers find most interesting.

When you go to post a comment, the comment-entry box may inform you that you're posting to a different IT publication site. That's because IDG Enterprise publications, including CIO, Computerworld and InfoWorld, now maintain a shared comment network. The publications share some of their best articles with each other, so now we'll share the story comments too.

Reader comments you post to a story at one site will appear on the same story published at other IDG Enterprise sites. Similarly, comments you read on an article at one site may have been initially posted on another IDG Enterprise site. Wherever a given story appears on the IDG Enterprise network, all readers read and write to the same comment thread. We think this makes for a more lively discussion with a richer set of perspectives.

The IDG Enterprise network of IT publication websites that are (or will be) participating in the comment network include CIO, Computerworld, CSO, InfoWorld and Network World.

Please see our for more information about commenting in the IDG Enterprise Network. If you need help with the login or want to learn more about the system, please check the .
