AAPT forms search partnership with Google

AAPT Thursday announced that it will be offering Google's new enterprise search products to its customers.

Announcing the partnership, AAPT business solutions general manager, Gregg Roy, said the integrated hardware and software product will allow companies to harness the search power of Google in their internal business environment.

"Why is it that you can Google information on the Web quicker than you can locate critical data within your own business? It doesn't make sense," Roy said. "We are continually finding new ways to increase our customer's productivity and profitability not only with traditional telecommunications services but also now with ICT solutions."

Two versions of the product are available. The Google Search Appliance is designed for larger organizations, with the capacity to search from 500,000 to 30 million documents.

It features instant, real-time secure access to all the information and knowledge across the organization and uses an interface as simple and intuitive as Google.com.

Roy said it is an excellent tool to improve business productivity. "It makes the sea of data on your network instantly available from a single familiar search box," he said. The Google Mini is designed to meet the needs of small to medium businesses and is physically half the size of the Search Appliance.
