A-Rod, Birdman, Phelps, Kobe plug Guitar Hero: World Tour

27.10.2008
A new commercial featuring four celebrity athletes hopes to keep Guitar Hero in the rhythm game driver seat.

The ad began airing last week and parodies Tom Cruise as seen in 1983's Risky Business. Yankee third baseman A-Rod can be seen playing base; Tony Hawk mans the toy drums (on a skateboard even); Olympic record-holder Michael Phelps plays guitar; and Laker shooting guard Kobe Bryant rocks the vocals.

Guitar Hero: World Tour for Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS2 Sunday, a month after launched on Xbox 360. GamePro's full review is expected as soon as our previews editor Travis Moses puts down the sticks in favor of a pen (read: later Monday).

Although Rock Band launched as the first four-person multiplayer rhythm game in 2007, the Guitar Hero franchise has so far enjoyed better sales, largely due to its more household name.
