Woz dances onto DeepDyve's advisory board

Understated overachiever Steve Wozniak, famous for designing Apple Computer's early models, has joined the advisory board of search startup . Woz is not an investor in the company, which claims to index what it calls the "," content that is not indexed by Google and other Web search engines.

DeepDyve, formerly known as Infovell, switched its name and business model last year. Instead of trying to sell itself as a business utility, DeepDyve now plans to build a consumer-focused, advertising-driven business.

DeepDyve CEO William Park told the that the board only meets twice a year. That leaves Woz plenty of room to his entertaining appearances on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" TV show.

More seriously, Wozniak is the chief scientist for , a startup that manufactures solid-state storage devices to replace hard drives and their notoriously vulnerable spinning disks.

Woz and his dance partner Karina Smirnoff were slapped on Monday with the show's lowest-ever score for their dance routine. Surely there are nerd bragging rights for that?
