Wireless Hall of Fame inducting carrier honchos, "father of switching"

2012 inductees include one pioneer sometimes called the "Father of switching" and others who led big carriers such as AT&T and Verizon into advanced wireless markets.

The inductees will be honored formally at the dinner in San Diego on Oct. 8.

Those being honored:

Wayne Perry Service Provider Honoree. Began his wireless career at McCaw Communications in 1976 and became president in 1985. Oversee McCaw's merger with AT&T Wireless Services in 1994, and later headed up NEXTLINK Communications and co-founded Edge Wireless. Perry also played a major role in forming the CTIA wireless industry trade group, and served as chairman from 1993-1994.
