At A$59.95 (US$45) per week, the rent-a-wireless-broadband-service provides users with 1GB of data with downstream and upstream speeds of 1Mbps and 345Kbps respectively. Data downloads that exceed the weekly 1GB allowance are charged at $0.50 a megabyte.

The service is on a strict week-by-week rental basis, so users incur no contractual lock-ins or sign-up fees. However, customers are required to meet a $300 security hardware deposit and a $20 there-and-back delivery fee for the iBurst wireless broadband card. A stalwart late return fee will set customers back $25 per day.

"Spin's rental program is perfect for the traveling business user or conference attendee as it saves them from looking for hotspots or succumbing to expensive hotel broadband," Spin Internet marketing manager, Bill McArthur said. "We have really hit the perfect niche for road-warriors everywhere."

As the service operates on iBurst's wireless network, coverage is available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and the Gold Coast. Perth and Adelaide are expected to be online by the end of the year.

Wiredsky offer a similar wireless broadband rental scheme, but McArthur believes Spin's price points are "significantly lower" and offer more data.
