Vocus begins partial phase out of Maxnet name

24.08.2012
Vocus Communications (ASX: VOC) has decided to partly rebrand its recent , New Zealand IT services firm Maxnet, under the Vocus banner.

From 27 August 2012, Maxnet's two data centres and website will be changed to Vocus but the NZ retail ISP business will continue to trade as Maxnet.

Vocus Communications chief executive, James Spenceley, told Computerworld Australia that this was due to the "thousands of subscribers" who use Maxnet email addresses.

"It was far simpler to keep the name rather than have people worrying that they were going to lose their email address. It's a commitment to the brand that people signed up to," he said.

Spenceley added that Vocus hired four new NZ staff since the acquisition to work in network operations and support services.
