Texas-based satellite communications provider Caprock Communications has opened a regional office in Singapore.

Located in Comcentre 3 on Exeter Road, the Singapore office is expected to expand the company's presence in the Asia Pacific. Caprock aims to provide systems integration services and turnkey satellite communications products to energy, maritime and mining firms in the region.

The company specialises in providing systems design services, voice over IP, corporate networking, broadband Internet and real-time video capabilities to its customers.

"Over the last few years, we have seen a significant increase in energy and mining investment in Asia," said Ian Ford, vice president, general manager, Southeast Asia, Caprock. "Singapore in particular is a growing focus for many of our customers as it is one of the busiest ports in the region and its shipyards house many of the new drilling rigs being built."

Caprock's presence in the region also includes an international teleport and support centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, and a co-location and support centre in Perth, Australia, which was opened two years ago.
