Symantec teams up with Kaz to offer managed services

06.06.2006
Telstra subsidiary Kaz Tuesday announced a partnership with Symantec to offer a managed security service in Australia.

This is the first time Symantec Operational Services has partnered with a company to offer a managed service.

The partnership will offer managed desktop antivirus, e-mail gateway security and secure Web content filtering, 24 hour incident response and fixed price agreements based on three, four and five year contracts.

Mike Foster, CEO of Kaz said the company met with Symantec executives four weeks ago in the United States.

"Over the past couple of years Kaz and Telstra Service Solutions had quite an emerging business around security and one of the things we (Kaz) are now looking at doing is the ability to replicate that capability," Foster said.

"From a Kaz perspective we are starting to look at security end to end and there is an interesting dichotomy happening in the security marketplace. I can even think of one client who asked us to consult because their security policies are so strict it inhibits the way work is done.
