23.03.2006
Sybase will focus on showing off its three databases to Linux enthusiasts at the LinuxWorld expo in Australia this month, as well as running demonstrations on how clients can use its databases to leverage solutions in the mobility space.

The ASE database is aimed at enterprise users; SQL Anywhere is for running in applications and plug and play type devices; and Sybase IQ is a purpose built analytic business intelligence engine.

Managing Director of Sybase Australia/New Zealand, Rob Zalums said that although his company is known as an enterprise database company, that is only one quarter of Sybase's business in Australia and New Zealand .

"Over three quarters of our local business is actually our lower-end databases, as well as our development tools and mobility middleware," he said.

Since its development of a relational database management system on Linux in 1999, the company has been busy expanding it's presence in the Linux space.

Other Sybase products that now run on Linux include a Replication server, OpenSwitch, EAServer, Unwired Accelerator, Financial Fusion, Unwired Orchestrator and EDI Server .The vendor will be giving away free copies of its ASE Express for Linux at the show.
