The ASE database is aimed at enterprise users; SQL Anywhere is for running in applications and plug and play type devices; and Sybase IQ is a purpose built analytic business intelligence engine.
Managing Director of Sybase Australia/New Zealand, Rob Zalums said that although his company is known as an enterprise database company, that is only one quarter of Sybase's business in Australia and New Zealand .
"Over three quarters of our local business is actually our lower-end databases, as well as our development tools and mobility middleware," he said.
Since its development of a relational database management system on Linux in 1999, the company has been busy expanding it's presence in the Linux space.
Other Sybase products that now run on Linux include a Replication server, OpenSwitch, EAServer, Unwired Accelerator, Financial Fusion, Unwired Orchestrator and EDI Server .The vendor will be giving away free copies of its ASE Express for Linux at the show.
