Strike Suit Zero Bringing Robotech-like Mecha Action

09.08.2011
Zone of the Enders have been asking for an HD sequel for years now, and Macross fans have been quietly yearning for the localization of space combat games like Macross Ace Frontier. Well, if Strike Suit Zero lives up to its potential, both sides figure to be very happy.

Developed by UK studio doublesix (All Zombies Must Die!), Strike Suit Zero puts you in command of a starfighter in a fight furing "the last hours of earth." The kicker, of course, is that the Strike Suit can turn into a mech, making it very similar to the iconic VF-Valkyrie that starred in Macross and Robotech.

In another plus for mecha fans, the designs are by Junji Okubo, who has previously worked on Appleseed: Ex Machina and Steel Battalion. The game itself will feature a branching mission structure where "every second is precious."

The teaser trailer confirms that Strike Suit Zero will be on PC and PSN; but the official release says only "game consoles," leaving some hope for an XBLA release as well. Look for it in 2012.
