Starhawk's Opening Cinematic: Part Firefly, Part InFamous 2

Stop me if you've heard this one before: Sci-fi. Western. Space Opera. But where television series like Trigun and Firefly have tread on these well-worn paths before, we haven't had a ton of good sci-fi western video games (with the exceptions of and ).

, the spiritual successor to 2007's Warhawk, may change that. Yes, the tropes of gunslingers, mutants, and laser guns have all been done, but Starhawk's combination of aerial, vehicular, and third-person combat may be the perfect vessels to explore an expansive world like White Sands.

The definitely recalls the animation style of Batman Beyond and InFamous 2's cinematics while the world itself looks like a healthy blend of Firefly's mercenary-aesthetic and Trigun's dust-ridden desolation.
