Sony Ericsson, Google team up for blogs, search

06.03.2006
Sony Ericsson last week announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Google to provide Blogger and Web search as applications on all new generation phones.

According to the handset manufacturer, this will allow users to post pictures and text directly from their cellphones to the desired Blog without the need for a PC and Internet connection.

Amidst a slew of new handsets announced last week, most of which are set to launch Q2 this year, most notable was the Sony CyberShot-branded K790 and K800. The phones include features such as 3,2 megapixels, xenon flash, auto focus and a technology called BestPic, allowing semi-professionals to get the most out of their camera phone, says Raymond Fritz, national account manager for Sony Ericsson South Africa.

Gap

According to Phillipe Kubbinga, sales director for Sony Ericsson Southern Africa, the P910, Sony Ericsson's business phone, which competes against the likes of Nokia's 9300 and the iMate Pocket PCs, has been discontinued in favor of two smart phones.

The P990 and the M600 messaging device, announced recently in Barcelona, will replace the P910, and add elements such as UMTS (3G) connectivity and larger QWERTY keyboards.
