Sipera gear protects Microsoft OCS when used in UC

At VoiceCon Orlando next week, Sipera will announce that its supports , enabling businesses to safely extend OCS to telecommuters and business partners.

The Sipera IPCS appliances can such as DoS attacks, authenticate users and enforce admission control as well as encrypt both signaling and media streams, making it possible to reduce risk of attack when connecting business OCS-based UC networks to other sites.

In addition, is offering a free assessment tool to determine vulnerabilities in OCS UC deployments. The OCS Assessment Tool (OAT) seeks out vulnerabilities that may result from misconfiguration of equipment that may leave gaps in network security posture.

The company is also offering free IP video assessment tools, not restricted to OCS, to determine if videoconferences are susceptible to eavesdropping or disruption by DoS attacks. The checks make sure the network is configured to thwart attackers that might try to make their laptops appear as VoIP phones in order to carry out man-in-the-middle attacks that can capture and alter traffic.

Sipera is also announcing that its gear is being used to protect the network of a bank in Chile that is dramatically expanding its online services. The bank, BCI, uses IP voice, texting and instant messaging to communicate with its retail customers and protects those communications with a Sipera IPSCS.
