Sign of the times: Yahoo vacates Santa Clara towers

In what is a clear sign of the times, nearly 400,000 square feet of office space in Santa Clara, California.

The two shiny eight-story towers the company is abandoning is considered prime Silicon Valley office space.

"These buildings are as good as it gets," Mike Field, director of real estate for the Sobrato Organization, which owns the two structures built in 2000 told the .

Field said Yahoo and Sobrato will work to bring in new tenants. He added that Yahoo will also consolidate their remaining buildings in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale.

On Tuesday, Yahoo reported a fourth-quarter net loss, but still managed to beat analysts' expectations, . The company reported a net loss of US$303 million for the quarter, compared with earnings of $206 million for the same time period one year ago.
