Rocstor Embraces USB 3.0 For New Hard Drives

Storage company has added two new USB 3.0 devices to their product line up, just in time for CES 2011.

Their Blazer range of external hard drives will now include a USB 3.0 friendly device, thanks to the introduction of the . This aluminium-cased drive is said to be tough, only 0.5 pounds in weight and fast, boasting a potential 5,000MB per second transfer speed.

In addition, they announced a new encrypted HDD, the , which also makes use of the faster USB 3.0 standard. The lightweight Commander comes with a FireWire 800 port and Rocstor claims it's quick to work through commands.

Capacities for both series will range from 64GB for a SSD, to 750GB for a HDD.

Although pricing information and release dates are still unknown, Rocstor will be showing off its new USB 3.0 range at CES all this week.

However, you may be asking yourself - "Why all the USB 3.0 products now?" especially considering USB 3.0 at last year's CES. The answer: It's taken up until now for computer manufacturers to slowly embrace the new standard - meaning we should now finally see an increase in useable USB 3.0 products. Good news for all, right?
