PSP Minis to be playable on the PS3 'shortly'

While the PS3 has a superb suite of downloadable games, including the Pixeljunk series, Flower, and Noby Noby Boy, the output of new titles hasn't been as consistent as competing downloadable services like Xbox Live Arcade and the Wii Shop Channel. Sony is taking a step towards evening the downloadable playing field by introducing PSP Minis to the PS3, according to the .

Launched in conjunction with the PSP Go, but playable on all models of Sony's handheld, the PSP Minis sell for a lower price point than most PSP games and take up less real estate on the PSP's memory sticks. Many of the PSP Minis have been repurposed from the iPhone, including the very popular Fieldrunners, pictured above. Sony hasn't set an exact date for the PSP Minis to come to the PS3, but the that the firmware update allowing the games to make the transition will be happening "shortly."
