PeopleSoft Inc. yesterday revised its third-quarter profit based on generally accepted accounting principles by US$2.6 million, to $26.2 million, or 7 cents per share, up from the $23.6 million, or 6 cents per share, that the company had initially reported. Pro forma results remained unchanged, the company said.

In its latest filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said the updated earnings figure for the quarter, which ended Sept. 30, was the result of realizing a higher tax benefit on the $6.4 million charge it took to pay the severance package of CEO Craig Conway, who was fired last month.
