PamFax Sends, Receives Faxes Without a Machine

I hate--yes, literally hate--fax machines. Every time a contractor asks me to fax back a form, I bristle. But with , you can keep Luddites in the loop for about $6 per month (free download, service is priced in euros), and receive unlimited faxes yourself, with no annoying ads--and no annoying fax machine.

The PamFax service isn't free, but it's cheaper than most fax services. A no-obligation On-Demand plan, meant for personal use, lets you send faxes on a per-page basis, with pricing based on which region of the world you send to. (As of this writing, pricing starts at 13 cents per page.) Aimed at small businesses, the Basic plan starts around $6 per month, and allows you to receive unlimited faxes at a fax number local to your area, though sending rates still apply. The $9-per-month Pro plan includes 20 pages of outgoing faxes to Zone 1 countries, and the ability to share the service with employees.

You can send faxes directly from the PamFax Web site by uploading a file and entering the recipient's information, or you can download the PamFax desktop client for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. The desktop client adds scanner support and better printing options.

Businesses with customer-facing Facebook pages can add a PamFax app into their page, giving customers a quick way to fax them. But more important, PamFax integrates with the popular Salesforce CRM software, letting salespeople send faxes to customers with a couple of clicks.
