Optus to offer iPhone 3G S from June 26

Optus has announced it will offer Apple's new iPhone 3G S smartphone from June 26.

The telco has started accepting details for updates on the device, including when it will be available in store, on its iPhone Web site at: .

Optus already offers the iPhone 3G 8GB and 16GB models on its network with bundled voice and data services.

Announced at Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference this week, is "the fastest iPhone ever", according to Apple, and is twice as fast as its predecessor, the iPhone 3G.

Other enhancements include video capture and editing functionality, a new three megapixel camera, voice controls, a digital compass, PC-like "cut, copy and paste", an Internet tethering, which allows the iPhone to be used as a USB modem.

Apple has also made available a beta iPhone SDK for the iPhone OS 3.0 which includes new APIs and developer tools.
