Online SAAS directory launched

Climbing on the SAAS bandwagon, ThinkStrategies, a consulting company focused on helping the enterprise transition to SAAS, Monday launched the first online directory of SaaS providers.

According to Jeff Kaplan, managing director of ThinkStrategies, many companies want to know what applications delivered in an SAAS model are available but have no idea how to find them.

"Using Google can be tedious, and Salesforce.com's AppExchange is limited to applications that work only with Salesforce," Kaplan said.

He said he hopes to make the two newly launched Web sites, one for SAAS providers and the other for MSPs (managed service providers), a clearinghouse. The company will also use the tried and true Yellow Pages model of offering enhanced listing for a fee to SAAS and MSP companies.

While there is some overlap between SAAS and MSP, Kaplan said the two services are different with MSP designed to manage enterprise operations and application operations, and SaaS an alternative to packaged applications.

The two sites allow companies to upload their own company profile using an online self-service application.
