Cisco buys Sypixx in $51M deal

Cisco Systems Inc. has agreed to acquire Sypixx Networks Inc. for US$51 million in cash and stock. Privately held Sypixx is a maker of software and hardware that allow analog video surveillance systems to operate as part of an IP network. The acquisition is expected to close by April 28. The Sypixx products will become part of Cisco's Emerging Markets Technology Group.

HDS promotes Roberson to CEO

Hitachi Data Systems Corp., a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has named Dave Roberson to replace Shinjiro Iwata as CEO, effective April 1. Roberson is currently president and chief operating officer of HDS. He will retain the president's post. Iwata will assume the role of chief marketing officer at Hitachi Ltd.'s Information and Telecommunications Systems Group.

Brocade buys NuView for $60M

Brocade Communications Systems Inc. has acquired NuView Inc. for $60 million in cash. NuView is a 6-year-old, Houston-based provider of network- attached storage management software. Brocade said the NuView software will be offered as part of the Brocade Tapestry suite of software that resides on its SilkWorm line of switches. NuView also provides a professional services operation to Brocade.
