Micros-Fidelio targets gaming with Macau branch office

Micros-Fidelio Hong Kong will open a Macau office on February 26, said the firm in a statement. The company--a wholly-owned subsidiary of Micros Systems Inc., which supplies IT systems to hospitality and retail industries--said the new branch will provide support for their rapidly growing number of hotel and casino customers.

'It's important that we invest in Macau...because of the size and complexity of the new properties,' said Michael Sacks, managing director, Micros-Fidelio Hong Kong. 'Casino-hotels have a different range of requirements than tourist or business hotels, and need specialist support.'

The new Macau office will provides local on-site service for Micros point-of-sale installations as well as a training/meeting room for new projects and existing customers. 'We are augmenting our local installation and support team with experienced staff from Las Vegas,' declared Sacks, "to ensure our customers in Macau are given the best support service possible."

The locally incorporated Micros-Fidelio Macau office will be on the 25th floor of the Bank of China Building on Avenida Doutor Mario Soares. Macau's BOC Building, designed by Hong Kong architectural firm P&T Architects & Engineers, has become a haven for IT vendors setting up shop in the former Portuguese enclave--IBM, HP and Microsoft have sited their Macau branches there.

Macau, which joined the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1995 and became a Special Autonomous Region (SAR) of China in 1999, has seen rapid infrastructure growth since the liberalization of its gaming industry in 2002.
