Mercury Quality Center 9.0 helps customers automate functional testing of service-based applications including SOA and Web services via new capabilities in Mercury QuickTest Professional. QuickTest is one of several automated software testing products in Quality Center. Others include TestDirector, WinRunner, and Business Process Testing.

The new release is available now.

"[With Version 9.0], we can automatically introspect the Web service and create a test for you to automate," said Rajesh Radhakrishnan, vice president of products at Mercury.

Mercury with Version 9.0 is looking to help users manage risk in mission-critical applications and make software quality teams more effective. Also featured in Version 9.0 is testing for Adobe Flex environments for rich Internet applications.

Additionally, Version 9.0 integrates with the SAP Solution Manager, which is where SAP houses the definition of processes, Radhakrishnan said. "By integrating to that, we're able to pull out automatically every change that was made in SAP," and gauge what needs to be tested, he said.
