From October 15 - 17, the Benefit Evil Team plans to play 13 Resident Evil games. The marathon will be broadcast live over the internet via picture-in-picture, offering a view of the game action and the person playing through it. The audience can interact with whoever is playing through a live chat room, via email, and through tweets. The goal is to raise as much money in the 72-hour period as they can.

"The idea came about after had a discussion one night that we would love to be able to give something back to the community at large. We knew we wanted to donate to Child's Play as we feel it is an excellent cause and a fun one to support, Benefit Evil organizer Adelle Starr told GamePro in an email. "I thought of a game marathon I had seen and decided it would be something we could do. We decided on Resident Evil as it's a game series we all have a huge passion for, it has a good story, and it just so happened that zombies and Halloween time go really well together."

Games being played include Resident Evil: Directors Cut (PS1), Resident Evil 2 (PS1), Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS1), Resident Evil: Code Veronica (PS2), Resident Evil Zero (GameCube), Resident Evil 4 (Wii), Resident Evil 5 (PS3), Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Wii), Resident Evil (GameCube), Resident Evil: Outbreak (PS2), Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2 (PS2), Resident Evil: Survivor (PS1), and Resident Evil: Dead Aim (PS2).

Starr also explained why Benefit Evil does not have a specific dollar amount to reach: "After much discussion amongst the team we decided that we did not want to have a definite goal since anything we made would be considered a victory. Originally, we had the goal of raising $1500, which I think is quite possible. Depending on how things go, we may set a goal on the fly during the weekend."
