Manhattan Associates' solutions ready for IBM virtualisation

11.11.2009
Warehouse management (WMS) and transportation, planning and execution (TP&E) solutions from Manhattan Associates have been tested and are ready-to-run on the IBM AIX 6.1 operating system, featuring PowerVM virtualisation technology.

Server virtualisation technology reduces costs and overhead as well as optimises computing resources throughout the enterprise. But this technology can also create performance problems for companies that don't test the high-yield solutions running on the server, for a virtualised environment.

Manhattan Associates is attempting to solve this problem with this initiative. The company provides global supply chain excellence to more than 1,200 customers worldwide that consider supply chain optimisation core to their strategic market leadership.

Manhattan Associates notes a satisfied WMS customer, David Markwell, vice president, information technology for Loblaw Companies.

Markwell said virtualisation of its Manhattan Associates solutions on IBM Power Systems technology allowed it to respond rapidly to new business requirements. The company has also been able to create test and development environments at no incremental cost in terms of hardware or power consumption.
