With SOA gaining prominence as an IT concept, LogicLibrary and the Eclipse Foundation are embarking on efforts geared toward accommodating this trend.

LogicLibrary on Tuesday revealed it has become a member of OASIS. The decision to join follows on the heels of OASIS"s recent decision to develop blueprints for effective SOA architectures. The company, which offers the Logidex metadata repository, will have its vice president of technology, Brent Carlson, serve on the OASIS SOA Adoption Blueprints Technical Committee.

"We didn"t see the need [to join OASIS] before but when they came out with something SOA-oriented, it"s really important for us as an organization," to now participate, said Al Himler, vice president of product management and marketing at LogicLibrary. The company plans to offer its experience in managing software development assets as it works with the committee.

Eclipse, meanwhile, acknowledged it is pondering the launch of a project pertaining to SOA and is looking for a company to lead the effort. The SOA project, however, is not in the proposal phase yet, according to an Eclipse representative.

More details of the Eclipse SOA plan are expected in coming weeks.
