LG bounces back with solid smartphone sales in Q3

24.10.2012
The 12th paragraph of the story "LG bounces back with solid smartphone sales in Q3," posted Wednesday, misidentified the company whose sales of iPad mini-related components represented 3 percent of its total revenue. The company is LG Innotek. The story has been corrected on the wire and the 12th paragraph now reads:

For 2012, iPad mini-related component sales are expected to contribute roughly $150 million, or about 3 percent of LG Innotek's total sales, Park said in a research note.

The fifth paragraph has also been modified to emphasize that the 50,000 Optimus G phones shipped to the U.S. are part of the 500,000 shipped in the quarter, and not in addition to it. It now reads:

It shipped 500,000 of its flagship Optimus G phones, mostly in South Korea, where it launched in September, and Japan, where it launched in October. It shipped about 50,000 of them to the U.S. ahead of the phone's launch there, said Yoon Bu-hyun, a vice president of LG's Mobile Communications division.
